Member & Partner Congregations
Thank you to our member & partner churches! Your partnership is both meaningful and essential to the mission of Pathways. Here, you will find information about membership & partnership with Pathways and a list of current member & partner congregations.
Member Congregations
Pathways Member Congregations are those congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America who support Pathways at the annual benevolent rate per baptized member. The benevolent rate is set each year by the membership at the Pathways annual meeting.
Partner Congregations
Pathways Partner Congregations are those congregations not affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America who support Pathways at the annual benevolent rate per baptized member.
Please note: Congregations that pay their benevolence become members & partners for the year following their payment. Example: Congregations that pay benevolence in 2012 receive benefits in 2013.
Benefits for Member & Partner Congregations
1. Connection – As an important ministry of the larger Church, we are excited about the relationship between outdoor ministries and congregational ministries. Pathways works to provide opportunities for you to enhance the ministry already established at your church by offering programming and a place for all of God’s children to encounter God in unique environments and to be renewed.
By connecting with Pathways, your congregation is directly affecting the future of our church by raising up leaders. Statistics show that the majority of seminary students, youth directors, and 20-30 year olds who are active in their congregations list a Bible camp experience as a defining and important reason for their involvement. Through our Member and Partner Connections, together we can shape our church and our leaders!
2. Access - Member & Partner congregations are invited to register for summer camp programs beginning on January 1st, whereas churches currently not members or partners are invited to register on February 1st. Certain camp programs fill up quickly, and the extra registration time may make a difference!
3. Reduced rates - Member congregations receive reduced user rates for youth, adult, and family programs. Member congregations may also rent our facilities for retreats and other events at reduced rates.
4. Communication & Promotion – Member & Partner congregations receive information and promotional materials about current programs, volunteer events, fundraising activities and key calendar dates as they relate to camp. In addition, Member & Partner congregations receive access to the Pathways Staff for promotional visits and interaction with the congregation.
5. Voting rights (Member congregations only) – Member congregations are entitled to voice and vote at meetings of the Corporate Assembly.
How to Become a Member or Partner Congregation
Each congregation makes the decision every year whether to be a Member or Partner congregation of Pathways. Member & Partner congregations lend their support in the following ways:
1. Prayerfully – Member & Partner congregations commit to pray for the year-round, Christ-based ministry of Pathways.
2. Programmatically - Member & Partner congregations assist in promoting Pathways programs by encouraging its youth, adults and families to participate year-round.
3. Voluntarily – Member & Partner congregations bring their faith to action by encouraging and participating in Pathways’ projects either at camp or from home.
4. Financially – Each Member & Partner congregation pledges and commits to support Pathways financially though a yearly benevolence which is a rate per baptized member as set by the Corporate Assembly. Please note: Congregations that pay their benevolence become Members or Partners for the year following their payment. Example: Congregations that pay benevolence for 2012 receive member or partner benefits in 2013.
